Epilog
Go backward a step
Exactly nine months later.
It was a typical summer day in the small town of Fruitfly Falls, with the sun beating down on the streets and the smell of freshly cut grass wafting through the air. But amidst the usual bustle, something extraordinary was about to happen.
In the local substation, where Decker had spent countless hours pretending to be solving mysteries with Scooby Doo as well as working on his grandfather's biography, a new life was about to be born.
Tess, who had been keeping a close eye on Decker as he worked on his book, had encouraged him to stay calm during the delivery. She had been by his side throughout the entire writing process, from the moment they discovered Tess was pregnant to the final moments of labor. Tess wanted to support Decker and allow him to keep working, even while she was having a baby. A couple of quick pushes and she was done.
As the baby's cries filled the air, Decker and Tess exchanged a look of joy and exhaustion. They had decided to name their daughter Sophia, after Decker's grandfather's wife's dog, who had been the inspiration for his book.
The substation's electricians had been there in to help with the delivery, and soon the tiny bundle of joy was placed into the arms of her proud parents. Sophia weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces and measured 20 inches long, a perfect size for her first appearance in the world.
As Decker held his daughter close, he couldn't help but think about how far he had come. From being a young publishing billionaire to becoming a husband and father, his life had taken a dramatic turn. And it was all thanks to Tess, who had captured his heart and become an integral part of his life.
Tess smiled at Decker, her eyes shining with happiness. "We make a good team, don't we?" she said.
Decker nodded, feeling grateful for the love they shared. "We certainly do," he replied. "And I couldn't have asked for a better partner in every sense of the word."
As they gazed into Sophia's eyes, Decker knew that their little family was just beginning an incredible journey together. And he was excited to see what the future held for them.
